The standard was published by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), has been adopted by the Canadian government\u2019s Communications Security Establishment (CSE), and is being adopted by the financial community through the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).\n<\/p>\n<p>\nFIPS 140-2 requires federal government agencies that use cryptographic-based security systems to protect sensitive information to comply with the standards. Any\u00a0organisation\u00a0that does any kind of business with any government agency is also required to comply with the standards.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>PowerArchiver is using Windows cryptographic modules for certification\/validation. Windows XP SP3 and newer are FIPS 140-2 certified, while previous versions are FIPS 140-1 certified.
