PowerArchiver 2010 RC2 is here!

PowerArchiver 2010 RC2 is here.

Here is the list of improvements and fixes for this release:

Improvements:

•  Better integration with .zipx (new icon, MV, 64bit, etc).
• Extracting paths in Explorer view based on current location in archive.
• Better error handling for specific broken zip files.
• Small burner improvements.
• Various improvements throughout the program.

Bug Fixes:

• #1369 - Unicode path issues in backup.
• #1265 - Ftp profiles automatically added several times.
• #1382 - Batch zip does not store relative path in specific situations.
• #1372 - Cosmetic issue with displaying unicode filename when right click on file inside archive.
• #1373 - Allow all lower case names in cfg breaks unicode support.

PowerArchiver 2010 RC1 is out!

We have just released PowerArchiver 2010 RC1 and here is the list of changes.

Improvements:

• Faster interface.
• Native and superior support for .zipx - advanced zip methods.
• Virtual Drive 2010 is released for PA 2010 (no significant changes).
• Added support for Windows 98.
• FTP addresses are now automatically saved as ftp profile.
• Smaller burner interface improvements.
• PA now automatically extracts rest of archive if user is opening html file.
• Many smaller improvements everywhere.
  

Bug Fixes

• #1339 - PA can not properly extract certain GZ files.
• #1352 - PA shows nag screen in limited user accounts if no registry key.
• #1265 - 120 dpi issue in column settings screen.
• #1361 - Creating new profile in configuration.
• #1360 - green light at status bar moves to the center.
• #1358 - Sending file to burner via file menu doesnt work.
• #1351 - back/fwd buttons dissapear.
• #1344 - opening pk4 files does not work.
• #1345 - find file does not find certain letters.
• #1313 - tar paths issue under linux.
• #1329 - dragging files in Total Commander.
• #1337 - hotspot on extract window is outside of actual window.
• #1050 - specific file extension not added to track lists.
• #1335 - compressing folder in shell creates crc error.
• #1330 - 64bit shell - compress to zip activates send to ftp.
• #1153 - 64bit shell - shell extension icon not transparent.
• #1324 - deleting an file in ftp if no permission.

PACL 6.00 Beta 2 was also updated to reflect latest changes in PA compression library.

PowerArchiver 2010 Beta 3 released!

PowerArchiver 2010 Beta 3 is here. This is important milestone as most major bugs have been fixed and our next release will be RC1.

Improvements

• More RAR extraction improvements.
• Improved support for multiple monitors.

Bug Fixes:

• #1313 - "compress to tar" issue with subfolders.
• #1311 - find/select file/s does not work.
• #1295 - sorting columns extracts files.
• #1296 - unrar does not ask you for password again (if first was wrong).
• #1247 - shell: cab sfx takes long time to check (64bit).
• #1246 - wrong file detected as sfx.
• #1302 - PA always adds -1 to the ripped iso file names.
• #1299 - long passwords and encrypted zips created with PA 2007 do not work in 2010.
• #1307 - 7z files in use compression does not work and gives out wrong error message.
• #1301 - issue with opening 7z spanned files.
• #1298 - german: add window scroll bar partially hidden.
• #1293 - some checkboxes not aligned.
• #1297 - PA does not ask for password when testing encrypted archives.

PACL 6.00 Beta 1 is released!

PACL 6.00 Beta 1 is here. Packed with latest PA technology, it brings PACL up to date with new engines and many improvements such as multicore support, unicode and much more. Here is the full list of changes:

• PACOMP.EXE:
  • New ZIP engine (requires PACLIB.DLL) 
  • support for large ZIP (over 4 GB).
  • support for PPMd, WavPack, BZIP2, LZMA compression methods.
  • support for Unicode archives (both archives and files inside).
  • support for multicore compression (ZIP Deflate and ZIP LZMA).
  • New switches:
    • unicode : parameters and output are in unicode format. 
      (PACOMPU.EXE removed from distribution)
    • 0 : start as low priority process.
    • c  : added new compression methods for ZIP.
    • o : force Unicode saving of filenames.
    • u, h : update and freshen actions for ZIP archives.
      
• PAEXT.EXE
  • New ZIP engine (required PACLIB.DLL) 
  • support for large ZIP (over 4 GB).
  • support for PPMd, WavPack, BZIP2, LZMA decompression.
  • support for decrypting PKAES and WZAES encrypted files.
  • support for Unicode archives (both archives and files inside).
  • New UnRar engine with up to 30% faster uncompression.

PowerArchiver 2010 Beta 2 is out!

PowerArchiver 2010 Beta 2 is ready for downloads. We took our time to fix all issues reported by the customers and added one major improvement - up to 20% faster rar extraction (compared to PA 2009 and WinRar)!

Improvements

• Improved RAR extraction - up to 20% faster than before, including WinRar.
• Improved speed of zip compression preparation - up to 10x faster than before on many files (both backup and main PA).
• Improved progress bars in various situations.
• Added SFX cab option to the shell extensions configuration.
• Added write directly option in backup.

Bug Fixes:

• ##### - Various zip compression/update/extraction issues reported by testers.
• ##### - Fixed issue with specific file/folder selection.
• #1288 - Special characters removed from paths when extracted.
• #1274 - No error when bad password in RAR file.
• #1260 - filters don\'t work in backup if folders are selected.
• #1237 - Profile boxes not aligned.
• #0668 - Advanced Options in backup schedule do not work in new backup until backup is reloaded.
• #1127 - After update, encrypted files inside zip were left unencrypted.
• #1228 - Drag and drop - all possible compression methods shown even if not applicable.
• #1235 - Queue does not work in backup.
• #1236 - Can\'t select multiple folders in burner tools.
• #1234 - wrong text in Add folders in burner tools.
• #1233 - Reuse windows always on.
• #1202 - Adding files to backup through shell does not add them to file list if custom temp folder is used.

We are pleased to announce the launch of PowerArchiver 2010 Beta 1!
After months of hard work, Beta 1 is ready for your testing pleasure. When it comes to compression features, this is most innovative PowerArchiver yet, blending performance and compatibility in the best compression package there is. Here is the list of changes:

New Zip Engine:

• Multicore support - from 2x to 8x faster than WinZip 12
  Support for dual core, quad core and i7 computers for nearly up to 8x speed improvement over competing utilities that do not have multicore zip support (WinZip, WinRar). Multicore compression is supported for deflate and LZMA methods.
• Support for WinZip 11 and 12 formats
  Full support for LZMA, PPMd, WavPack and BZIP2 compression methods for full compatibility with WinZip 11 and partial compatibility with WinZip 12.
• Unicode support
  PowerArchiver 2010 supports Unicode zip standards, compatible with all major archivers that support unicode.

• Moved backup to standalone application for easier handling, faster load times.
• You can add multiple folders in backup file list.
• Considerably faster zip backup when handling 10,000+ files.
• Better info on files/folders in file list (number/size).
• Fixed major issue with 7-Zip backups and larger number of files.

New version of PA Virtual Drive is out - 1.01. Changes are minimal - new icon, other small graphical changes and faster mount/unmount via PA Starter.
