PA 2010 – Italian, Croatian and Belarus translations added

We have added full Italian, Croatian and Belarus translations to PowerArchiver 2010. You can download them from download pages and register with PowerArchiver 2010 International license. We are looking for other translators as well, so if you see your language not supported, contact us.

For our bussiness customers, MSI installations will be added to the advanced installation documents at next update. If you need it sooner, please let us know.

PowerArchiver 2010 11.62 released!

After pre-release testing (thanks to everyone who tested latest files via our Facebook and Twitter pages), here is our latest PA 2010 11.62 release. While we are still heavily working on v11.70 new features, we decided to refresh final build to make sure you get some improvements and fixes that we could give you right away.

Here is what has been added to this release:

• Backup: You can now add 7-Zip AES file name encryption to the backup archives. Without proper password, nobody will be able to open these archives.
• Backup: 7-Zip spanning options have been added. In addition to previously available zip/zipx spanning, now you can also use 7-zip spanning in backup.
• 7-Zip SFX has been updated to the latest version posted on blogs in December.
• Optimizations: lowered the size of PowerArchiver's main executable by 1 MB.
• Optimizations: reduced memory usage by 350 kb.
• Various minor improvements and fixes.

A lot more is coming in upcoming beta of 11.70, which is still few weeks away (no promises yet). You can download PA 11.62 from the download page. We expect rest of translations to be ready during the day tomorrow. Thank you!

PowerArchiver 2010 11.61 released!

After months of working on first super duper stable PA 2010 release, we think we finally got it. As 11.50 was first official release of our multicore optimized and brand new zip engine with huge number of new features (multicore, lzma, ppmd, unicode, bzip, wav, etc), we knew that 11.6x will be first true super release. It really does take million users to download and install PA in order to find some stranger issues that beta testers did not find.

Of course, PA Team would not be PA Team if we stood still - as soon as 11.50 Final was released, we started working on 11.6 release. We knew that once you got hold of it, there will be some reports coming in. While waiting for those reports, we added few extra features, a lot of them requested by you:

• JPEG ZIPX support - we have worked on jpeg support since January 2009. It was not simple thing to do as specs were basically an PDF white paper, but Eugene gave it his best and here we are :-). More info in this blog post.
• Select files/folders window in backup - you have requested checkbox based select files/folders window for quite a while now, and stars finally got aligned properly. It should be much nicer way to add files/folders to your backup script/pbs!
• SPTD layer for Burner - basically best way to access CD/DVD/BD burner, which assures that there are no access issues with multiple burner software being installed. You need to install latest PAVD drivers through Web update and this option will be automatically selected. More info here.
• No to All option - Yes, finally :-). All overwrite windows now have No to All option. Should be a lot easier now if you need that sort of option.
• Open archive after creation - new shell option, suggested by one of the forum dwellers.

• Fine tuned Win 7 experience - we managed to fix taskbar progress issue we had, and we fine tuned jumplists for Pro users, so Virtual Drive options would be shown regardless of how many most recently used items you have (expand your jumplist item number to 16 to see all PA jumplist options!). For those that dont know, we have been one of the first apps to add support for Win7 jumplists, taskbar overlays, etc. You can find out more in our blog post from February!
• Win98 support - Some people thought we only care about our coolest users - this is not true! What else can be said about Win98 we got back to PA 2010. It has not been easy, and it has caused a delay to 11.61 release but we recognize that some of our business customers simply have to use Win98 and we felt that we had to provide PA version with our brand new super duper zip/zipx engine for Win98 users as well. So here you go!

There are numerous other smaller improvements, as well as bug fixes that went into 11.61.06 release.

PowerArchiver 2010 Officially released!

We are pleased to announce the official version of PowerArchiver 2010!
We have worked hard over last few months to bring you the fastest and the best version of PowerArchiver ever. Here is the list of changes:

New Zip Engine:

• Moved backup to standalone application for easier handling, faster load times.
• You can add multiple folders in backup file list.
• Considerably faster zip backup when handling 10,000+ files.
• Better info on files/folders in file list (number/size).
• Fixed major issue with 7-Zip backups and larger number of files.

PowerArchiver 2010 RC2 is here!

PowerArchiver 2010 RC2 is here.

Here is the list of improvements and fixes for this release:

•  Better integration with .zipx (new icon, MV, 64bit, etc).
• Extracting paths in Explorer view based on current location in archive.

PowerArchiver 2010 RC1 is out!

We have just released PowerArchiver 2010 RC1 and here is the list of changes.

PowerArchiver 2010 Beta 3 released!

PowerArchiver 2010 Beta 3 is here. This is important milestone as most major bugs have been fixed and our next release will be RC1.

Improvements

• More RAR extraction improvements.
• Improved support for multiple monitors.

Bug Fixes:

• #1313 - "compress to tar" issue with subfolders.
• #1311 - find/select file/s does not work.
• #1295 - sorting columns extracts files.
• #1296 - unrar does not ask you for password again (if first was wrong).
• #1247 - shell: cab sfx takes long time to check (64bit).
• #1246 - wrong file detected as sfx.
• #1302 - PA always adds -1 to the ripped iso file names.
• #1299 - long passwords and encrypted zips created with PA 2007 do not work in 2010.
• #1307 - 7z files in use compression does not work and gives out wrong error message.
• #1301 - issue with opening 7z spanned files.
• #1298 - german: add window scroll bar partially hidden.
• #1293 - some checkboxes not aligned.

PACL 6.00 Beta 1 is released!

PACL 6.00 Beta 1 is here. Packed with latest PA technology, it brings PACL up to date with new engines and many improvements such as multicore support, unicode and much more. Here is the full list of changes:

PowerArchiver 2010 Beta 2 is out!

PowerArchiver 2010 Beta 2 is ready for downloads. We took our time to fix all issues reported by the customers and added one major improvement - up to 20% faster rar extraction (compared to PA 2009 and WinRar)!

Improvements

• Improved RAR extraction - up to 20% faster than before, including WinRar.
• Improved speed of zip compression preparation - up to 10x faster than before on many files (both backup and main PA).
• Improved progress bars in various situations.
• Added SFX cab option to the shell extensions configuration.
