Exclamation Issue, cannot create ISO from CD/DVD, NO DIALOG

I have a disc in my CD/DVD-RW drive, that is 1.5GB, I open PA, and choose Burner, and (Copy Disc to Image ISO) and nothing happens for long time.

The activity light on my DVD Drive is blinking, but no response from PA in Windows. There is a Minimized App that says Image Grabber, but no Dialog for me to know what is going on. I waited for a long time, nothing..

Hi,

Thank you for using the forum's to report this bug. I beleave this is something the development team & alpha team have been working on. But it's good to know that the issue is being experienced outside the alpha team.

for now try downloading the latest version 12.02.02 and let us know if you still experience the same issues.

http://www.powerarchiver.com/test/al...warc120202.exe

To be on the safe side, i would also recommend you uninstall PA, reboot and then install the latest version from a clean start.

If you have any error messages, please include screen shots. however, from what we know the system just doesnt recognise or respond so you can screen shot that

Cheers again! and merry Christmas! PS: I like your system specs and computer designs!!

is this only on this DVD or?

Do you have PAVD installed (Virtual Drive?). It also installs special SPTD drivers that will be able to access your drives via custom drivers (if something has messed up your standard SPTI Windows driver).

just tested this using the latest version.
inpot a 1.57gig DVD, opened PA>Burner>Copy Disc to ISO, the Image Grabber appeared immediately and "grabbed" the DVD into ISO.
My system is very similar to yours......

I would check the settings that spwolf recommended.

Thanks all for the replies.

I do have PAVD installed, and that mounts my ISO's just fine.

I will try using a different disc,
Also I have no issues creating an ISO from my HDD.
As I just dragged all my files from the DVD to my HDD and created an ISO then mounted it as G: DVD drive no issues.

maybe copy protected DVD?

Make sure you go to Settings and change to SPTD drivers instead of Autodetection (PA Config> Misc).

I'll try some more tonight

Ok, I tried a totally differnt disc, and so far it is grabbing the image,
the dialog appered, but is very touchy, When I switched windows I lost the Grabber Dialog, but got it back.
Then when I went to move the dialog, Windows gave me a (Not Respondeing) however it recovered..
Image Was Sucessfull....

Here is the Screenshot of my issue using the disc in question.

I have changed the settings to (Auto Detect)
the options available are:
- Auto Detect
- SPTD
- SPTI
- ASPI

It appears there is only major problem with this disc,
It does not appear to be copy protected as I have made a backup.

Even weirder this is not a DVD, it is a 700MB CD copy, the original has
I assumed it was a DVD, die that when I dragged the files to HDD it was 1.18GB,
but the disc itself is under 700MB.

This is either a problem with the disc, or issues with 700MB CD's, I'll do some more testing..

Thank's for the replies, it is very appreciated.

the reason for this adventure is we can mount CD's /DVD's and virtual drives, and not have to insert a disc to play each game.

When I get this all figured out, I will do a tutorial, and recomend PowerArchiver to handle the job..

I went ahead and made a video of the issue.
It is only CD specific, no issues with DVD.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2XaimFV-Do0

Also the mounted drive does NOT seem to work with games that require a DVD in the drive to play. I have to actually put the DVD in to get it to work. I have even tried renaming the drive to D:/ but still does'nt work.

I forgot to mention that when selecting SPTD, I do get a dialog, but drive does not appear.

Also that others are doing this and having the same isuues.

Thanks for posting the video!
Does the same thing happen if you enter ANY CD in the drive?
What is the longest you waited for before turning the program off?
You should be able to just press the "Open" button on your DVDrom drive and the disc tray should open up, without you having to turn your computer on or off, does that work?

Also, lets try this...after entering the disc and Image grabber working in the task bar, open the Task Manager>Application Tab>Right click on PowerArchiver 2011: Image Grabber>Select Maximize

Does that bring it up at all?

Any CD will cause the issue, even data cds I made myself, please note I have no issues with DVD

I've waited About 15 minutes before turning it off.

Pressing the Eject button on the CD-Drive, and even right clicking on CD-Drive will not eject the CD, it is still spinning, I used a paper clip to eject it one time, not a smart move on my part. Nothing was damaged.

I have used TaskManager, tried ending process, it goes through the process, but will not stop the drive from spinning. I have also tried right clicking on the TAB and restoring it from there, but no luck.

I will try using TaskManager to maximze/restore PowerArchiver.

when it comes to playing game DVD's, PAVD doesnt have any DRM avoidance, so if particular DVD has DRM you wont be able to play that game.

The best thing for fixing the CD issue would be to PM us the example file (if you can find it on torrents or somewhere), so we can reproduce it here.

Only 1 game I need the CD for, and that's OK, I can live with puting it in, I dont play that much anyway.

The main reason was for 1 game my Brother has BF2, and we fixed the issue with that one, he had not updated the game, and that fixed issue ther, no DVD required to play.

Lastly, the CD issue, it does this with CDs, CDRs etc... so I doubt having the CD would recreate the issue, as I believe my problem is with all CDs

I tried maximize from taskmanager, and I got fullscreen transparent window with title bar only (PowerArchiver 2011 ImageGrabber not responding)

Note. I used even a different CDR, different brand even SONY CD-R supremas 700MB, PNY 700MB, SONY CD-R, Memorex, as well as the Retail Game CD

Note, I even tried to disable the DVD drive in device manager,
Device manager became not responding.

I was able to get the error message,

I've been using Powerarchiver since way back when it was called something else, Powerzip maybe ?? cant remeber like 90's, anyway, this is not causing me real issues, as the DVD ISO does work..

When I get some free time, I will try it out on a couple different computers...

Hope I've been of some help...
Let me know if there is anythng else I can test on my end...

Thanks...

It did not solve the issue on my PC,
Samsung Superwritemaster SH-223Q cannot update firmware (*)
Things that may be causing the issue:I'm using RAID 0 x2 on JMB363
System is 3-Way SLI (Doubt this is a problem)

HOWEVER:

I cannot recreate the issue on several other computers
Intel G41 running Windows 8 64-Bit,
HP DV6-2155DX Laptop Winows 7 64-bit, the CD to ISO file was quick and without issue..

So this issue is on my gaming rig only, it may be the
Samsung Superwritemaster Model: SH-223Q, and for some reason I cannot update the firmware from SB02 to ST02, I even reverted it back to SB00 with no avail. and still cannot update to ST02.

Sorry for the trouble everyone,
Next I am going to install a new DVD-ROM or blu-ray and see if the issue still persists..

Thanks for all the help...

yes, but it should work regardless of the drive :-).

After we finish up with beta, we would like to send you an debug version to capture logs so we can send them to our burner guys.
