Windows 7 - PA Desktop Gadget
Hi,
I think it would be a neat idea to create a Windows 7 Desktop Side Gadget. Within this gadget could incorporate quick info and links to thing's like; 1. Burner 2. Backup 3. FTP 4. Configuration 5. Recent 6. Clear History 7. Web Account 8. Forum 9. PA Top Feeds 10. Activity Display - ie When Compressing or UnConpressing would display the percentage done This in essance would overwrite the typical GUI that is displayed thus tidying up the screen.

Does anyone actually use Desktop Side Gadgets? Or should I say, do enough people use them to make it worthwhile to develop one?
I don't know about Windows 7 but when I got my Vista machine they were the first things I turned off when it first booted up. Within 10 seconds of that first boot they were annoying me.

I can 100% Concur that one of the 1st thing I do when I have formated and installed Windows 7 is remove the Sidebar gadgets on standard systems.
However, Workstation based systems with a good CPU, RAM and a decent sized monitor with High Rez i would normally install something like "Computer Status" which is a good little gadget that gives me live info on my CPU, RAM useage, battery Life, wifi Connection etc.. And because it is on a decent system with a good resolution it doesnt anoy me or the user as it only takes up a small space and can be made transparent per user's requirement. I personaly wouldnt use Vista, to me it never existed... :-D I think Microsoft would want to forget about it as well.. Anyway, Just a thought )

) I Can't argue with you in regards to the 1st point as I can fully understand where you are coming form..With Vista, if you have a medium to powerfull system you shouldnt have a problem. The main thing that anoys me is the UAC system. I know you can disable it but that isnt the point. Windows 7 is a must for anyone who needs to upgrade from XP. As it works well even with 4 year old system specs. Point 3, well i got loads of idea's its just getting them out of my head

Talking of abuse I got broken into over the weekend! Thank goodness for my trusty Dog who chased them away! In regards to window's 7 Jump lists! yes they are a very handy feature! But on a nice sized resolution its nice to have a neet gadget on the screen giving you instand info and access to personailsed options. Wink

The Door was taken out with some force but my dog has full access to the house and heard the noise then went for whoever it was not sure if she bit him but he must of did a runner as I didnt have anything else stolen or damaged. am having a new door put it next week, and have had the police round nearly every night this week just showing their presence I suppose. Cheers though! Its a tuff time for many people I think when you havent got a job and maybe depend on things you shouldnt you get desperate etc. No excuse but thats the way it goes... The area I Live in only had 3 recorded break in's last year. So it's a fairly safe area. Allot of community police walking the streets which is nice. Just didnt walk the ally way that backs to my rear garden on that particular day! lol

Winzip 15 Standard and Pro now have a Destop Gadget with simple options, so maybe PA can up the game as per my original above request. NEW!Drag files onto the new WinZip Desktop Gadget to instantly zip/unzip them
