PACOMP hanging?

I have a directory with 100s of thousands of files, total of about 20gigs in size. I'm trying to archive it into a single file with this command:

pacomp -u -r -c0 g:\pics.zip g:\pics\*.*

It seems to be running, but it's been stuck on "preparing to compress..." for about a half hour. Any ideas?
