This plugin provides you with the ability to

view into AVI Video files and extract frames as bitmap files, and the audio stream of the video as wave file. This is useful i.e. to make shots of a movie.
reencode the video with a different video codec by just extracting the videofile, which is offered by the plugin.
to encode a bunch of image files to a single AVI Video file. A wave file can be added as audio stream. This is useful if you render a lot of frames of a video, because you can easily encode all of them into a single avi file.
