I can appreciate the spambots problem as I went through that experience several years ago with a forum I moderated and eventually closed. Back then there was no Captcha or other verification system like there is now. If your particular forum software doesn't provide the necessary security features then maybe it's time to look for an alternative. Thanks for answering my question about changing the email address in the profile.
I do have a question regarding the email notification of your response, however. Can you explain why the email I received had a line that is NOT in your response above? Here is the quote from the email: "What exactly were you going to change on that profile page? Email? You only registered today." According to your own forum records I joined on 11-02-2007. Maybe it's just me but there seems to be a world of difference between 6 years and one day.
